Woodburned Lake Map EXAMPLES
Canoe Paddles

The canoe paddle blade to the right is in the horozontal position. All of the art work is done in pyrography (woodburning). The chain of lakes has been sized to fit on the approx. 6 inch blade. A largemouth bass decorates this paddle. The font used is Biondi. You may request a different font. The paddle may also be oriented facing right as in the example, or facing left. You will have to let me know if you have a preference.

You may prefer to have the canoe paddle oriented vertically, to fit in a certain space for example. In this case, the "family name" which is usually on the shank would be put on the blade along with the lake. I have blurred out the family name on this example. A spotted bass was requested for this paddle.
I purchase my canoe paddles from a canoe and oar maker in Wisconsin. They are called souvenir paddles and are for wall decor only. They are crafted from either basswood or poplar and are a very light creamy color.

The example to the right is the grip on the paddle. The usual woodburned images I use are a fishing lure for a fish, a feather for a bird, and a paw or hoof print for an animal. You can have anything you want, though. It will be a small picture fitting the approx. 2X2 in. grip. I've had requests for an eagle, loon, bear, sail boat, crawdad, artificial worm, etc. You may have a name or saying instead of a picture if you want.
Bark Rounds
Basswood bark rounds are available in two sizes. The medium size is approximately 5-6 X 7-8 inches. The large size is approximately 9-10 X 10-12 inches. Generally speaking, one animal, bird, or fish picture looks best on the medium bark round and two pictures look best on the large. If you want two pictures on the medium or three on the large, ask me and I'll see if they fit onto the design.

The "family name" has been blurred.

Whether a complicated contour map as in the above example, or a simple contour map here, you still enjoy a stunning wall hanging. The dark spot denotes the deepest part of the lake.

An eagle, musky, and two different trees on this one. Because of the shape of the lake, I could fit all these pictures on the round. Four woodburned pictures is the limit! Three is better - two is best. Let me know exactly what you want, though and we'll try to work it out.

Here was a request fot three different fish but no "family name". That made it easier to get the fish on in a decent size.
By the way, these bark rounds may also be turned horizontally instead of vertically as these examples show. The two main reasons would be 1. The wall hanging will fit into the space you have on your wall or 2. The lake is of the size and shape that would look best that way.
Birch Plywood Panels
Done on 1/4 inch birch ply. Birch is a tannish color with a light, wavy grain and woodburns beautifully. The size panel advertised is 11 X 14 which fits a standard frame. Other frameable sizes can be done. Let me know if you would like a bigger panel or a smaller one. Prices would vary somewhat.

The "family name" has been blurred. These come ready to hang but you may also frame them if you like. I woodburn the edges for a finished look.
They may be ordered to hang horizontally or vertically.
As you can see, this lake, because it is long and narrow, looks best on a vertical panel.

This is a reservoir and the animal of choice is a black bear.
Most reservoirs have not been mapped for depth and have no contour lines but usually have a bunch of streams branching out. If possible, I mark the route that the dammed river takes through the lake.
